The cost of public onchain swaps

Every trade you place on a public DEX tells the world something about you. Size, direction, timing, funding accounts, the pair you chose, everything is visible in the mempool before settlement and in the block history afterward. Searchers watch that mempool for profitable patterns. If your order is large enough to move a price, someone will position ahead of it and capture the difference through MEV. It shows up in your execution price whether you notice it or not.

You’re also revealing your strategies and exposing your alpha. A wallet with a readable trade history tells anyone who cares what you're accumulating, when you rotate, and roughly how much you're working with. Competitors read it, and so do people looking to trade against you. Desks and funds have understood this for years, which is why many of them maintain sprawling sets of wallets or push size through centralized venues, purely to avoid tipping their hand. Anyone moving real volume onchain has either built that kind of workaround or accepted worse pricing as the cost of doing business.

How AnomaPay Swaps works

Leveraging AnomaPay’s shielded transaction infrastructure on existing public blockchains, you can swap one token from another directly from your shielded balance. Instead of using your public EVM address to start your Bebop trade, AnomaPay requests a quote from Bebop's market maker network. You review the quote, then sign one intent.

From there, spending token A, executing the market maker's side, and receiving token B all happen inside a single onchain transaction. That makes the swap atomic by construction. It either finishes and delivers at least the quoted price with zero slippage, or nothing moves and your balance sits where it started.

Before AnomaPay, doing this with conventional shielded transactions took four separate transactions. You unshielded, approved, traded, then reshielded. Every one of those steps gave away something about who you were and what you were doing, and every one could fail on its own and leave you stranded partway through. AnomaPay folds the whole sequence into one gas-abstracted transaction that you sign once.

The execution of the swap is visible, but the account the trade starts from and the account the result flows to remain confidential. The result is the first mainstream, institutional-grade swap experience without doxxing your positions or strategy.
